National Center for
Agricultural Research and Technology (NCARTT)
The Jordan National Center for Agricultural Research and Technology
Transfer of the Ministry of Agriculture (NCARTT) operates
as a semiautonomous institution with administrative and
financial independence. NCARTT is mandated to conduct
and/or coordinate applied agricultural research and transfer
of technology activities at the national level in collaboration
with public and private agricultural institutions. NCARTT’s
mandate also provides for the identification, testing,
transfer and adoption of improved technologies.
NCARTT consists of a main headquarter and six regional
centres. The centre operates 12 Research Stations representing
different agro-ecological conditions in Jordan. Water
and irrigation activities are covered under the water
management and Environment program, The program is aimed
at optimum utilization of water and treated wastewater
resources, water harvesting in low rainfall areas, effect
of supplementary irrigation on improvement and sustainability
of agricultural production under rainfed conditions, and
minimizing the environmental degradation.
