Pr. M. SHATANAWI is the Dean of faculty of Agriculture and the chairman of the Board of Water and Environment Research Studies Centre (WERSC). He is a UNESCO chair holder and member in the Scientific and Technical Review Panel of the Wetlands Conversion (RAMSAR). Dr. Shatanawi is a professor of water resources and irrigation and has a wide experience as FAO expert in water resources management, as policy advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and as member of many scientific committees. He has more than 50 publications in water resources and irrigation management, water policy, hydrology and arid region and reuse of wastewater for irrigation. He holds a Ph.D. degree in hydraulic and irrigation engineering, from the University of California, Davis. He will lead the WP1.

Dr. F.M. ZIADAT is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Agricultural Resources & Environment. He holds a Ph.D. degree in the Application of GIS and Remote Sensing with a good background (M.Sc. and B.Sc.) in soil and irrigation. He recenlty participated in two projects, involving data collection and integration within GIS, use of satellite data for land cover/land use interpretation and land suitability analysis within GIS. He will assist Prof. Shatanawi in WP1.
