Objectives

IRRIMED aims at establishing tools to support efficient management of irrigation water use and to test scenarios for long term sustainable policies.

The general scientific objective is the assessment of temporal and spatial variability of water consumption of irrigated agriculture under limited water resources condition.

Measurements with sophisticated equipments allow to combine ground and satellite data into models, to ultimately produce simple and robust methods to assess evapotranspiration (ETR) over large areas.

    Consortium

    IRRIMED is a project supported by the European Commission under the INCO-Med programme,
    coordinated by IRD , specifically the team of CESBIO in Toulouse (France).
    From 2003 to 2007 research has been conducted by a consortium involving the following partners :

    Wageningen University, Meteorology and Air Quality group, the Netherlands

    University of Jordan (College of Agriculture), NCARTT (National Center for Agricultural Research and Technology Transfer) and MWI (Ministry of Water and Irrigation), Jordan

    FSS (Faculté des Sciences Semlalia) and ORMVAH (Office Régional de Mise en Valeur Agricole du Haouz), Morocco

    ACSAD (Arabic Center for the Studies of Arid zones and Dry lands), Syria

    INRGREF (Institut National de Recherche en Génie Rural Eaux et Forêts), Tunisia
